Get Relief with Safe Dental Extractions

Patients who visit their dentist regularly or when problems arise can usually save their natural teeth even when severe issues occur. For example, a tooth that is fractured can be repaired with the use of a dental crown to restore strength and integrity. Root canal therapy is used to restore a tooth impacted by infection or large decay. However, in some instances, patients may have a tooth that has become so far damaged and decayed that no restorative option can save it. In situations such as this, extraction may be recommended by our dentist. The two types of dental extractions include wisdom teeth removal and emergency tooth extraction.

Dental Extractions Knoxville TN
  • Wisdom tooth removal – the wisdom teeth are also known as the third molars. These molars are the last to develop in the mouth, typically in the late teen years or early adulthood. When they do, they often become problematic for patients. Additionally, some patients do not have enough space for the wisdom teeth to erupt, which causes them to become impacted. Dental surgery is required to remove impacted wisdom teeth. Our team at South Knox Dental is proud to offer surgical and simple wisdom tooth extraction for patients in the Knoxville, TN area.
  • Emergency tooth extraction – in other situations, patients may unexpectedly need to have a tooth removed. This often occurs if there is significant damage to the tooth that cannot be repaired with other services such as root canal therapy, composite resin fillings, or the placement of a porcelain dental crown. Emergency tooth extraction can be performed on the same day, and patients will need to speak to our dentist about tooth replacement options to maintain their ability to chew, bite, and speak properly. Options may include dental implants, bridges, full dentures, or partial dentures, depending on the patient’s unique situation.
